Sailing Kittiwake - Why cruising is great

Sailing·

Cruising around the world full time doesn't sound like a bad idea at all. If I'm being honest, I'd probably ditch my job, wife and kids to buy a boat and leave everything behind right this minute. Of course I wouldn't tell her I made that decision quite so easily...

But in case you're not so persuaded to live life aboard, in this week's video Elena and Ryan will convince you. They're here to talk to us about all of the advantages that sailing the world offers. So, let your inner green-eyed monster come out, as you hear about many of the reasons a life at sea sounds so wonderful.

Freedom

This is arguably the best aspect of the cruising lifestyle. Obviously, Elena and Ryan both have to work for a living, so have to stick to some deadlines. However, even through all the content creating and skype calls with clients, they are still both generally able to set their own pace and decide when to work and when to go for a snorkel.

Being Outdoors

Being in such close contact with nature and having the ability to admire the wildlife, sea, landscape and everything else that the world has to offer, is one of the simplest pleasures of living on a boat. It’s not often that you are able to step out of your home and have a view that is purely and serenely blue around you, with just the beauty of nature as your surroundings.

Simple Life

Elena and Ryan often catch and cook their own dinner, which is something they never take for granted. Simple pleasures that are often not accessible to people onshore remind them how lucky they are to be able to live the life that they do.

Free time

Living on a boat allows you a lot of free time. Elena and Ryan are grateful to be able to spend all their time together, and also developing new interests and hobbies. A constant change of scenery fulfils their desire to explore new places and gives them a ‘holiday feel’ as they are constantly in new areas, trying new things and meeting new people.

And last but certainly not least, Elena and Ryan have seen more sunsets and sunrises in the last year than in their entire lives combined! If that doesn’t make you want to pack your stuff and live on a boat, we’re not sure what will…
