The Gill Verso Drysuit Review
Gill have just launched their latest drysuit, the Verso. It’s full of innovative tech and suitable for a range of sports. Our sailing and kayaking buyer, David, couldn’t wait to take it for a test ride. Here is how it went:
I don’t usually brave the chilly Essex coast in winter, but what better conditions to put the new Verso drysuit to the test?
The Verso is easy to get on. It feels a bit tight getting your head in but that’s normal and means you get a secure fit that keeps the water out. Once on I felt snug and protected. You need someone to help zip you in at the back, and the zip itself feels reassuringly robust.
The Velcro waistband and legs allow for a perfect fit. The 3 layer fabric is very strong so I didn’t need to worry about snagging on branches or obstacles. The Verso also has a hood with a breathable fleece chin guard that makes a big difference in cold weather.
The arm zip pocket is convenient for things like keys, but it wasn’t big enough for my phone so I kept that around my neck for easy access. I recommend wearing boots as integrated socks can be easily damaged. I wore my GUL power boots and they fit well over the socks.
I found the Verso much easier to take off than any other drysuit and it definitely did keep me dry in trying conditions. Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with its quality, comfort, and performance.
