If you saw our blog a few months back, you’ll know how thousands of surfers took part in worldwide memorial paddle outs to celebrate the life of legendary waterman, Jack O’Neill.
As the brains behind surf brand O’Neill, and considered by many to be the man who brought the wetsuit to the masses, Jack was adored. Thanks to his dedicated work popularising the wetsuit and launching a hugely successful brand that Wetsuit Outlet proudly stocks today, he was a legend in the surf world. Sadly Jack passed earlier this year, aged 94.
The moving paddle out display united surf communities across the globe, with over 3,500 surfers joining hands in the world’s biggest floating memorial sequence. Things kicked off in Jack’s hometown of Santa Cruz in California but simultaneous paddle outs also took place in Australia, England, Portugal, France, Japan, Belgium, the Netherlands and South Africa.
However, we aren’t about to forget Jack anytime soon, especially if his legacy brand has anything to do with it. Now the company that he founded will pay tribute to the man once more and create a wetsuit in his memory. Limited edition suits, fittingly named ‘Legend’ have been launched by O’Neill to honour Jack, and are available here for purchase.
Only 900 wetsuits have been produced for Europe, so make sure you grab yours before they sell out! The wetties come in three different thicknesses (3mm, 4mm and 5mm) and will range in size from small to extra large.
The Jack O’Neill Legend Chest Zip Wetsuit is for men and is suitable for surfing and all other boardsports, depending on what country you’re using it in and which thickness you opt for.
